Galleria Center City brings together roughly 400 brands in one destination.

Beauty alone offers more than enough choice. The first floor is explicitly organized around SPA & BEAUTY, bringing together prestige cosmetics brands, while Olive Young adds a very different multi-brand K-Beauty experience within the same department store.

In a place with this much choice, the customer’s problem is rarely:

“There’s nothing to buy.”

More often, it is the opposite.

Where should I begin?

Skincare has become particularly complex. Hydration and soothing are only the starting point. Customers now encounter skin-barrier care, pores, sebum, peptides, PDRN, dermocosmetics, pigmentation and increasingly specialized functional skincare.

Better products have created more possibilities—but also more decisions.

That is why one of the most interesting elements at Olive Young Galleria Center City is not another product on the shelf.

It is the Skin Scan experience that lets customers look at their own skin before deciding what to explore.

According to ChoiceTech Korea’s June 29, 2026 deployment snapshot, the Skin Scan environment at Olive Young Galleria Center City includes one ChoiceDx Skin Analysis system.

This case is about more than one analyzer.

It shows what can happen when Galleria’s premium spatial curation, Olive Young’s K-Beauty discovery experience and customer skin data meet in the same retail journey.

A department store designed around “discovery”

Galleria Center City cannot be explained simply by the number of brands inside it.

Designed by UNStudio, the building itself was conceived as an experience of movement and discovery.

Its double-layered façade uses overlapping vertical patterns to create a moiré effect. As visitors move around the building, the surface appears to shift. At night, lighting and media elements give the exterior yet another expression.

The interior follows a similar idea.

Rather than revealing the entire building at once, the space encourages visitors to move through it and discover different floors, views and experiences gradually.

In other words, Galleria Center City does not only provide things to buy.

It gives people reasons to look around.

That idea has a natural connection with beauty retail.

A good beauty store also needs to do more than place a large number of products in front of the customer. It should help people understand where to stop, what to discover and what deserves a closer look.

Galleria curates the space.

Olive Young curates the beauty assortment and discovery journey.

Skin Scan adds another layer:

a reason to begin with the customer.

live Young’s strength is not simply bringing many K-Beauty products together

Multi-brand beauty retail becomes more difficult as the market grows.

A customer interested in hydration can choose from dozens of products. The same applies to skin barrier, pores, sensitivity, pigmentation and functional skincare.

This is where Olive Young has built one of its strongest retail capabilities.

It does not merely collect brands.

It organizes new products, ingredients and beauty trends into categories customers can understand, compare and discover.

Someone may enter looking for a cleanser and leave having discovered an unfamiliar sunscreen brand.

Another customer may come in for a familiar moisturizer and encounter a new dermocosmetic category.

The store turns a fragmented market into something that can actually be explored.

As K-Beauty becomes more sophisticated, this curation matters even more.

Because the next customer question is no longer simply:

“What’s popular?”

It is increasingly:

“What is relevant to me?”

As skincare becomes more sophisticated, the first question changes

Dermocosmetics and high-performance skincare have accelerated rapidly.

Ingredients such as PDRN and peptides, along with concepts such as skin-barrier care, are moving from specialist beauty conversations into mainstream product discovery.

For the industry, this is an exciting expansion.

For the customer, it creates another problem:

there is more to understand.

If every new skincare product requires another ingredient lesson, shopping quickly becomes exhausting.

A customer should not need to study cosmetic science before walking into a department store.

This is where skin analysis can change the beginning of the journey.

Instead of starting with:

“Which brand is famous?”

the conversation can begin with:

“What should I pay more attention to in my skin right now?”

That is a very different starting point.

Skin Scan does not change the products. It changes how customers look at them.

ChoiceDx is the AI skin, scalp and hair analysis solution brand developed and operated by ChoiceTech Korea.

Depending on the product configuration, ChoiceDx Skin Analysis evaluates multiple visible and measurable skin characteristics through high-resolution imaging and optical data.

The purpose in retail is not to let AI make the final purchase decision.

It is to give customers another reference point.

Without any personal information, the first things that stand out on a shelf may be packaging, brand recognition or bestseller rankings.

After reviewing their own skin information, the same shelf may look different.

A customer may pay more attention to hydration.

Another may become more curious about pores, sebum, skin tone or surface condition.

Nothing on the shelf has changed.

The customer now has a different way to read it.

That small shift becomes particularly useful in a large multi-brand beauty environment.

Good curation is not only about telling people what to buy.

It is also about helping them understand why something deserves their attention.

Good Beauty Tech can make human consultation more human

When AI enters a store, the first image that often comes to mind is automation.

The customer scans alone.

The system analyzes alone.

The algorithm recommends a product.

Staff become less necessary.

Premium beauty retail does not necessarily have to move in that direction.

Another model is possible.

Technology can handle information that customers can check themselves, while people focus on the questions that require an actual conversation.

Explaining how to position the face in front of a device is very different from asking:

“What products are you using now?”

“Do you prefer light or rich textures?”

“What has been bothering you about your current routine?”

Those are human questions.

A scan cannot fully understand preference, budget, routine or lifestyle.

If technology reduces repetitive explanation and gives both customer and advisor a clearer starting point, the advisor can spend more time on what human consultation does best.

In that sense, strong Beauty Tech does not have to replace the conversation.

It can make the conversation more precise.

Olive Young becomes especially powerful after the analysis

A result screen by itself has limited value inside a retail store.

What happens next matters much more.

At Olive Young, the customer can move immediately from information to exploration.

If hydration becomes more relevant, multiple brands and formulations are already available to compare.

If pores, sebum or sensitivity attract attention, the customer can explore those categories without leaving the environment.

This is where the roles of the retailer and technology partner remain clearly different.

ChoiceDx provides a data-based starting point.

Olive Young provides the breadth of products, brands and categories that allows the customer to continue the journey.

The system does not need to compete with Olive Young’s merchandising and consultation expertise.

It works better when it strengthens what the retailer already does well.

Galleria Center City also shows how “premium beauty” is changing

Premium beauty once had a relatively simple image:

a prestigious brand, a high-touch counter and a high-priced product.

That model still matters.

But premium retail is increasingly also about reducing the difficulty of choice.

Galleria Center City demonstrates this particularly well because multiple types of beauty experience coexist within one building.

Prestige beauty counters provide deep brand-specific consultation.

Olive Young offers a multi-brand environment where customers can move freely between K-Beauty categories and discover new products.

Skin Scan adds a different kind of layer.

It introduces the customer’s own condition into the decision process.

So premium beauty does not have to mean simply showing more expensive products.

It can also mean helping customers choose with more context.

A local retail case can still speak to a global K-Beauty audience

The fact that this case is in Cheonan is worth noticing.

K-Beauty’s global story is often told through Seoul—Myeongdong, Seongsu, flagship stores and major tourism districts.

But the customer experience that supports Korean beauty is also being built in everyday regional retail environments.

Galleria Center City serves customers across Cheonan, Asan and the broader central region, supported by access from Cheonan-Asan KTX Station and Asan Station.

Within one destination, customers can encounter prestige beauty, K-Beauty, lifestyle retail and technology-assisted consultation.

That matters because global expansion is not only about exporting Korean products.

The way Korean retail helps customers discover products can also travel.

Olive Young’s expansion into the U.S. and its partnership with Sephora show how Korean beauty curation is already moving into major international channels.

What can travel next is the customer journey itself:

discover → understand → compare → consult → choose

Skin analysis can become one of the bridges within that journey.

A strong technology case also needs a strong retail partner

ChoiceTech Korea does not want retail references to become a list of installed machines.

A device alone does not create a strong store.

Galleria Center City contributes architecture, space and a premium discovery environment.

Olive Young contributes K-Beauty curation, brand discovery and the ability to turn fast-moving beauty trends into categories customers can actually shop.

ChoiceDx contributes a different capability:

a data touchpoint that lets customers begin with information about themselves.

The roles are different.

That is precisely why the partnership makes sense.

When ChoiceTech Korea works with retailers and beauty brands, the first question should not be:

“Where can we put the analyzer?”

A better place to begin is:

What does this partner already do exceptionally well? Why do customers visit this store?Where do they hesitate or need more context?

Only then does it make sense to decide where Skin, Scalp or Hair Analysis belongs.

Technology should not force the store to reorganize itself around a device.

It should find the point where it can make an already strong customer experience even clearer.

Adding one more criterion among 400 brands

Galleria Center City already has more than enough products and brands.

Olive Young already gives customers countless K-Beauty options to discover.

As beauty becomes more specialized, however, the next competitive advantage may not come from adding another product.

It may come from helping customers understand which of those choices matters to them.

Galleria creates the environment for discovery.

Olive Young creates the product-discovery journey.

ChoiceDx adds one more piece of information:

the customer’s own skin.

The result is not a technology-led store.

It is a store where technology quietly gives customers one more reason to choose with confidence.
